Wonderful experience! We were on the fish for hours and landed 60+ keeper porgies! But that was only a consolation compared to Captain Bob and 1st mate Jake. This is the first of many party boats I've been on that the crew were engaged with the customers. Speaking for my daughter and two friends that also came we felt like we were on a boat with a couple friends who owned it not a party boat.highly recommended and I will be there again hopefully to slam some gator blues!! Thank you sunbeam crew!
this was the best fishing experience I ever had on a fishing boat. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the lady in the office was extremely nice and very pleasant. I would come back everyday if I could! I recommend people to go here because this will be the best experience you have ever had,
We were booked for a party boat for 2 this past Sunday. I made our reservations two days in advance. When we arrived we paid and boarded the boat. As usual I made sure we were there an hour early to take care of any paperwork and get good seats. After we were on the boat waiting for about 20 minutes we were told they double booked the boat and we had to go to a different company down the road. Before we left they offered us a free ride on the Sunbeam. By the time we made it to the other boat we were the last to arrive. Therefore there were no seats so we had to stand the entire 5+ hours and the only spots left to fish were at the back of the boat. Please beware when you stand at the back of the boat all the birds fly over and you have to constantly duck because they love to fly and poop. It was my husband’s birthday and this was and activity he looked forward to but was a complete let down. He didn’t catch a single fish! The moment we dropped line the captain asked us to reel them back in so we could move. This went on the entire duration of the 5+ hours.
After getting back we went directly over to Captain John’s/Sunbeam to voice our displeasure. I grabbed out tickets and went in. There was an older lady giving out the vouchers for the free trip on the Sunbeam. I informed her that I was from Georgia and a free trip would be pointless. I requested a refund of my husband’s ticket price. The lady (term used lightly) proceeded to get a nasty attitude with me raising her voice and in a mocking tone asks how dare I request a refund when “they paid another company $120.00 for us to fish.” 1) We paid you $139.00 so you are still coming out on top if you’re only giving them $120; 2) Your company messed up the reservation by double booking so take responsibility for your mess and take the attitude out on the person who did it not your customers; and 3) Do the math if you paid them $120, plus you are giving away 2 free seats ($139) you save money by just refunding me the one ticket price and selling those two seats to another customer. After grudgingly returning my money (only $60) and asking me to sign a receipt confirming she gave me the money she still had a bad attitude “Have a safe flight.” I’m convinced the only reason she did return the money was because the Captain walked up in the middle of her yelling.
The only saving grace is Captain John’s cool demeanor. He spoke with me and understood the situation and apologized numerous times for the screw up. Captain John is a good man and I wish him the best of luck on the water but the people in your office who lack basic customer service skills should have little to no interaction with your guests.
We had a great time. They were very accommodating to our constantly changing party size and date. We caught more fish (porgy, striped bass and blues) than we needed and released more than we kept. Ted, the mate, was great untangling lines, unhooking the fish and slicing the filets. We are going to make this a yearly event.
