About Us
For over 80 years, Captain John’s Sport Fishing Center has been family owned and operated. Through 4 generations, Captain John’s has housed the Sunbeam Fleet at its home in Waterford, Connecticut. With three boats currently in the fleet, the Sunbeam Fleet can accommodate groups from 1-80 passengers. We offer your usual Private Charters and Public Fishing as well as unique trips such as Burial at Sea, Fireworks Cruises, and more!
Weekly Fishing Report
Captain Bob of the Sunbeam Fleet reports another decent week of fishing porgy fishing. It took a little effort, but those that put in the effort in ended up with a good mess of fish. A few trips showed an uptick with some shorts and keepers along with keeper striper bass. The weekend Bass fishing was good despite not so pleasant weather with plenty of bass to 42 inches. We also a few blues starting to mix in with the stripers.

The Sunbeam VI charter boat which carries up to 15 passengers and has had major overhaul this past winter giving us more power and speed. We’re confident you’ll be impressed by the advancements in our technology system we have installed.
In order to receive prime days for private charters (6-80 passengers) whether is just family, friends or team building you may book online or contact office if you have any special dates or times we will do our best to accommodate you.

Our FFA chapter takes this trip every May and this was our best year ever! 22 people caught 74 stripers (4 keepers!) and we had a perfect weather day! The mates Steve and Kiwi were THE BEST!
